Confederate Songs

I Wish I Was in Dixie God Save the South The Southern Wagon I Wish I Was in Dixie is about Confederate soldiers wanting to return home to their beloved South. They usually sang this song marching to go fight or while taking breaks. God Save the South is about the Confederacy will win with the help of God. Through his strength, they would win this war and take what was rightfully theirs. The Southern Wagon was a song to rally up neighboring cities to join the Confederacy. It's a song that makes the Confederacy look great and makes the Union look like they have no chance of winning.

Letter Home w/ a recipe

Dearest Mary, As this wretched war comes closer to an end, I long for the day when I can see your magnificent face again. I have found myself drawn to things that have reminded me of you. Yesterday I was in a West Virginian Pub and they had Bird's Nest Pie. I thought to myself, I have to try this because it is surely not as good as my Mary's! It tuned out that the Pie was incredible. I still think yours is better though. This is the recipe I got from the worker. 6-8+ apples 2 cups of milk 3 eggs ½ cup of brown sugar ½ teaspoon of cinnamon Preheat the oven to 350⁰F Grease a deep casserole dish (round or rectangular- 9 by 9 inches square or a 9 inch deep pie plate, or a 9 inch Bundt pan) Peel and core apples and leave whole, to fit snugly in the baking dish. Make the custard by beating the milk, eggs, brown sugar, and cinnamon together well. Pour the custard over the apples in the dish. Bake for 30-40 minutes until the custard is set. I miss you so much. I will

A Letter For My Mary.

November 15, 1861 Dearest Mary,              I hope you are doing well. The days go on that I am more and more forgetting your beloved face. I wish I could be there to hold your hands and I pray that when I return the sickness has deceased and I can be with my healthy, happy wife again. I am counting down the days until the Confederacy can win the war and secede from the retched Union. Being a General is very agonizing. Everyday I must train troops, bark orders, and go to some battle that I don't understand why I am fighting for it. My Generals uniform is also very itchy and hot inside. I wish the Commander in Chief would give us a break once in a while. Anyways, I hope all is well at home and I hope that Carter has decided to think about something other than his business and help out around our house. I will be returning home any day now.
